The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine, for the Second Year in the Province of Córdoba Announces Honorary President, Musical Producer, and Other Appointments

The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine is honored to announce that Canadian composer Mychael Danna, Academy Award™ winner for Life of Pi, will be the Honorary President of the festival, which will be held for the second year in the Province of Córdoba, from June 23-30, 2013. In addition, the festival announces several other appointments, including Mikael Carlsson (Moviescore Media) to the position of Concert Musical Producer.

Mychael Danna is the perfect ambassador of one of the most important events in the world of film music, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine organized annually by BSOSpirit Association, the Provincial Government of Córdoba and the company Leitmotiv Music. The composer of scores such as Moneyball, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Little Miss Sunshine, Danna has enthusiastically accepted the relevant appointment as Honorary President for 2013, a position held last year by composer Mark Isham and in the seven prior installments in the city of Úbeda by Brian Tyler (2005), John Frizzell (2006), John Debney (2007), Bruce Broughton (2008), Patrick Doyle (2009), Michael Giacchino (2010) and Bruno Coulais (2011).

In addition, Mikael Carlsson will be the musical producer of the concerts that are planned for this second edition. Born in Halmstad (Sweden), Carlsson is a composer and music producer, and in 2006 launched the record label 'Moviescore Media'. Since then, he has become one of the most important producers in the world of film music.

Composer and conductor Arturo Diez Boscovich will serve as music director for the Festival. Diez Boscovich was born in Malaga in 1979, and is the music director to the Teatro Lirico Andaluz (Málaga) and to the Teatro Lírico in Huelva.  For the past several years, Diez Boscovich has been working closely with the festival as conductor.  He is also the composer for the animated short film Fuga, which recently won an award from the Malaga Film Festival.

Conrado Xalabarder will remain as coordinator of the composing workshop. Xalabarder works as professor of scoring as part of the Communication Studies Faculty at the Pompeu Fabra University and Vic University, and serves as a critic for the magazine Fotogramas.
The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine has also made other appointments to beef up several departments, including the press department both inside and outside of Spain, website design, retaining Jesus Mendoza Creative Studio, to create a more dynamic official website (www.filmmusicfestival.org).

In addition the festival thanks this year’s sponsors, the City and the University of Córdoba, The Mezquita Motor car dealers, Renfe, AC Travel Agency, Casas de la Judería Hotel or Chale Mas Productions SL for their participation and cooperation with this year’s festival. 

The Festival organization wants to emphasize that one of its primary objectives for 2013 is to continue expanding the participation of professionals, companies, firms and sponsors that wish to be part of one of the most important initiatives in the music and film fields worldwide; that generates, for Spain, Andalusia and Cordoba, an economic and cultural development of great significance, as it was last exhibited in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2013) held in Madrid, where the festival took a leading role in the attractions and events presented by the Cordovan stand.
